livingforfrancesandme asked: hi! how are you? ooh i'm on her youtube page now and love everything i've seen so far! she's awesome! i might buy that book she's talking about in her vintage pin up series, the one by alfred morris. hmm, i'm getting rather carried away but i like it:)

So glad you like her! I’ve seen lots of books similar to that on Amazon- I’ve got at least 5 on my wishlist haha. When I first discovered her channel, I watched sooo many of her videos all at once. She’s been doing those tutorials for quite a while now- she used to be blond, then she went red, then she moved to a different house, then she had a baby about a year ago… and all the while teaching us how to look fabulous!

Finally!

So, I ordered some film recently and just got it today. I’ve got a roll of black and white for Holga (I’ve never shot with her in b&w before… should be interesting!), and a roll of color for my new Diana F+. Watch for new pictures by the end of this month or beginning of next! Whee!!

Soon…

I should be getting some film soon! Not sure how soon pictures will be coming, since it takes time to get some good shots, send it off to be developed, etc. BUT… Pictures will be coming sometime before the end of the world, I promise!

I Need More Film!

I rarely post anything on here because film isn’t as cheap as it used to be, and since I have to send it off to be processed (since Holga is a medium format), I literally can’t afford to do it often. However, I had a birthday recently and plan on using some of  my monetary gifts to get some more film and breathe some life back into this thing! and I’m sure Holga will be happy to travel with me instead of hibernating on my bookcase.

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistance. Talent will not. There is nothing more common then unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not. Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not. The world if full of educated derelicts. Persistence and Determination alone are Omnipotent.

Black Sheep

You know, I’ve noticed that the Holga seems to be sort of a black sheep in the lomography world. I subscribe to Lomography’s e-mails and see every other camera highlighted- the various incarnations of Diana, the Spinner, Fisheye, etc etc. These are all lovely and fun cameras, of course, but I never see Ms. Holga spotlighted. I have both a Holga and a Diana, and personally, I prefer the Holga. I seem to get richer colors and better viginetting with her. Diana definitely has a dreamier quality, but I usually prefer the rich, bold colors that Holga gives. I’ve tested both cameras with the same exact film in the same light (see the beach pictures I posted a while ago), and got brighter results with Ms. Holga. Most folks new to lomography are seemingly directed towards every camera (especially towards the Diana) but Holga, who is just as good! Lomography should come out with a special edition Holga called “The Black Sheep”- goodness knows there are plenty of special edition Dianas… it should be Holga’s turn!
